Tips To Self Development

Last time out we were able to establish the fact that before you can fully express yourself, you must have developed yourself in some ways. Self-development is the key to expressing yourself and influencing others.
We said that "Self-development can simply be defined as a deliberate effort of improving the different aspect of your life". we talked of the process of self-development and factors that can influence self-development. To read more on that click (here)

Self-development entails every tiny process or act that aids your transformation as a person. It means you maximizing your potential while being the best version you can ever be. When you start self-development and you are becoming a better person, it doesn't mean you are better than your neighbor or people around you. It only means your life and circumstances around you improve. You enjoy this by being cautious of your "Set and Setting". Understand what's happening with your internal, (what's going on in your mind, what exactly you are thinking of) then use it to influence the external (using your thought to influence your actions).

Planning is very important to achieving anything in life, the first step to this is writing down whatever you want to do. It is also the same with self-development, you have to plan for it. Be as brief as possible and measure your progress. You can get a book where you can document your progress. When you write t your plan and document your progress, it helps you clarify your thought process ad stamps your intention
When it comes to self-development, you can be flexible. You can change your plan when you feel like it. If you follow a particular plan and its not producing result it means you should review the plan and alter it where necessary
Here are a few tips worthy of consideration for your self-development plan

1. Now Is The Time: Start Now

You should start working on your self-development right away. You need to plan for your self-development now. Some of your self-development plans will take time and you need to start now. The longer you procrastinate the more difficult it will be to achieve self-development. "If you escape today's responsibility it doesn't mean you'd be free of it tomorrow.”

2. Take Little Steps

They say “journey of a mile starts with a step." when you want to plan ensure that you split the big goal into tiny elements. Take these little steps and it will lead you to your big goal.

3. Learn From Others

One of my favorite quotes states "you can learn something from everyone, because even a broken clock is always right twice a day.” learn from others, you can avoid the mistakes they made and leverage the steps they took to success. If you depend only on your own experience life may turn out to be relatively harsh on you. Read books it's important.

4. Welcome Change

“The only thing constant in life is change." regardless of which end of the spectrum you find yourself (whether you are active or passive), change will come. Whether you act or not change will come, so you can't run away from change.
When you plan for your personal development, make sure there are specific actions you need to take to welcome, embrace and navigate change.

5. Be Accountable

Whatever you turn out to be, you are responsible for that. Your progress which defines who and what you are is your responsibility.
When you make little steps to help with self-development, it is your responsibility to initiate these steps. "if you don’t do it for you, nobody else will do it for you.” whatever the outcome is, The glory or the shame, they are yours to carry.

6. Appreciate Yourself & Know Your Worth

Beyond clamoring on what you don't have focus on what you have. Think of how you impact others with what you do and think how greater that impact will e if you develop yourself more. "As much as it is for you, your self-development is for others too.”

7. Be Intentional

You are a product of your thought. “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is." you become what you think of. So be intentional about your thought. Discover your true intention. Before you say you want to do something, be sure you want to do it. Ensure that your goal and intentions are in good tandem, if they don’t align you'd end up being frustrated. That way, you'd have silly excuses to leverage on that way your progress will be halted.

8. Challenge Yourself

If your goal is something you can attain with ease, you won't enjoy the benefit of challenging yourself. If your goal is way beyond your capacity and limit, you are heading down the frustration lane. Reach a compromise, get to the midpoint between difficult and easy. That way it won't be too easy and it won't be too difficult, and you'd reap the benefit of self-development.

9. Follow Your Passion

If you pick up what you don’t like, you will end up with frustration and the best case scenario contempt. Ensure that the actions you take align with your values, make sure you do things that make you happy.
Yes, your passion sometimes comes with their hurdles, keep following don't run when it seems tough, "if you like it, you will get through it.” you can develop yourself to the point that, it will be difficult for others to tell if you're playing or working. As with your passion work and fun seem to be the same and the level of productivity will not drop in any way.

10. Keep Going & Never Give Up

If it is going too smooth then it's working against the laws that govern life. You will encounter ups and downs that's for sure. Just keep going even if you hit a low point. Life feeds on rhythm, and rhythm comes from the momentum you build from consistently working towards your goals regardless of the hurdles. Note that point when you feel like giving up, you are almost at your breakthrough point. There is no end to self-development, you only need to continue learning and relearning all the days of your life.

Conclusion:

Like they say “you can only take a horse to the stream to drink water, but you cannot force it to drink water." This message is for you, it's not too late to start adjusting to attain self-development. If you have abandoned your goals and plans, revisit them now, and if you've been procrastinating here is a call to do it now.
